• Pretorius in the 1980 Journal of Economic Geology gave some attention to the Gay’s River Goldmine at Coldstream (60 km due east of Castle Frederick) where Placer Dome mining concentrated an exploration program the following year.

It is this that is the proof needed to confirm that this is the right place to hunt for and expect elephants in elephant country.
